Money, exchange and ATMs at TPE

Taiwan still runs on cash in night markets and small shops. Here is how to get New Taiwan dollars (NT$) on arrival.

Updated October 13, 2026Independent guide

Bank counters and exchange machines

Bank exchange counters sit in the arrival halls before you leave the arrivals area. The airport also lists foreign currency exchange machines. Exchange before you walk out: once you leave the arrivals area you cannot go back in.

ATMs

ATMs in the terminals accept major international cards. Your home bank may charge a foreign withdrawal fee, and the ATM owner may add one; declining the machine’s own conversion and paying in NT$ is usually cheaper.

Cards and the EasyCard

Cards work in hotels, department stores and chain restaurants. For transport and small buys, get an EasyCard (or iPASS): it pays for the Airport MRT, Taipei MRT, buses and convenience stores. Keep some cash for night markets and small family restaurants.
